Meet the Worm Wrangler

Amanda Hunter, affectionately known as the Worm Wrangler, is not just passionate about soil and worms; she’s on a mission to transform how we think about waste and soil health. Amanda combines her academic expertise with hands-on experience to promote sustainable waste management through vermicomposting. Her work doesn’t just end at worm farming; it extends to educating communities about the benefits of composting and empowering them to make environmentally friendly choices.

What is the Impact Network?

SWR Impact Network

Launched in 2009, the Impact Network is SWR’s flagship program, dedicated to addressing local environmental challenges in line with international standards. Originally known as the Regional Carbon Initiative, the network supports organizations in setting ambitious yet realistic sustainability targets. Members from diverse sectors, including government, education, and tech, collaborate to reduce carbon emissions, waste, and water usage, making the Waterloo Region a leader in sustainability innovation.

Worm Wrangler is grateful for the opportunity to participate in community-wide initiatives by SWR Impact Network.
